The Gwangju Media Art Platform (G.MAP) and Seoul Metropolitan Government are collaboratively organising an international open call for media facade artworks to be simultaneously exhibited in two cities – Gwangju and Seoul. This initiative seeks to foster creative exchange within UNESCO Creative Cities and to discover and support interdisciplinary media art creators.
This open call is centred around a specific theme: ‘Nam June Paik: Post-Fluxus Sense’, with the objective of upholding the essence of the arts of Nam June Paik and Fluxus. Entrants are prompted to envision prospective portrayals of Nam June Paik’s artistic prowess in conjunction with his contemporaneous artistic contributions or to perpetuate the enduring spirit of Fluxus across epochs.
Four projects will be selected through the open call for exhibition from 24 November 2023 – 31 March 2024. Each individual (or team) will receive 20 million KRW (~14,000 EUR) including tax and transportation expenses for the production of their artwork and for travel costs related to supplementary events hosted by Seoul Special City and G.MAP related to the contest and exhibition.
