UMOJA is launching an open call for applications for a five-week long, gender-balanced and multidisciplinary artists’ residency that will take place in Dar es Salaam (Tanzania) from 26 September - 29 October 2022. The residency programme intends to open up cultural dialogue between East African and European artists, as well as to promote gender balance and social cohesion through the arts.

In continuation of its Culture Solidaire programme Kamel Lazaar Foundation is launching two calls for projects. One call is for artists from all disciplines, from and/or residents in the Arab world and/or the Mediterranean, willing to work in relation with Tunisia. A second call is for researchers, curators, and writers willing to develop research, critical thinking and/or curatorial work in Tunisia.

Guest Artists Space (G.A.S.) Foundation is looking for a Residency and Project Coordinator. The successful candidate will work with the Managing Director and wider team to coordinate, plan, deliver and provide logistical support for GAS’s resident artists, events and rolling calendar of programmes at sites in Lagos and the Ecology Green Farm in Ikise, Ijebu.

The Goethe-Institut is launching a project to support choreographic creations in the Arabic speaking countries. It proposes to select ten artists from and based in the Arabic speaking countries. Each artist will be creating a choreographic project centred on notions of autonomy and body politics. The Goethe-Institut provides financial support for the productions and accompanies artists from conception to implementation.

TheMuseumsLab is a platform for joint learning, exchange and continuing education on the future of museums in both Africa and Europe. The programme consists of three one-week seminar modules (online and onsite in Berlin and Cape Town) lead by prominent African and European experts, a two-week residency at a renowned European partner institution, and a co-working phase.

Mophradat has partnered with Nyege Nyege Villa in Kampala to provide a residency for a composer/s (with up to two collaborators) or a band comprised of maximum three musicians from the Arab world to spend focused time working on a specific project, creating new compositions, or exploring and researching new ideas. The residency will take place over ten days in April-May 2022.

The EU-funded project Euro-Egyptian Cultural Programme (EECP) is launching a call for European artists to join a residency programme in Egypt working with Egyptian independent cultural actors.

The Moniack Mhor International Writers’ Residency in Scotland will take place over one month in March 2022. Six mid-career / established international writers and three Scottish (UK-based) writers, working in poetry, prose, non-fiction, playwriting, or songwriting, will be given time and space to develop their work. Three residents will also have the opportunity to LIPFEST, the Lagos International Poetry Festival in October 2022.

The WARC Travel Grant promotes intra-African cooperation and exchange among researchers and institutions by providing support to African scholars and graduate students for research visits to other institutions and regions on the continent.

Now in its fifth edition, the New Dimensions Lab brings together diverse African artists to develop stories told through creative technology alongside leading industry mentors. This year the Lab will take on a hybrid format with 12 physical and 6 virtual applicants, running 26 February – 6 March 2022. Applicants should be citizens or permanent residents of an African country and currently living on the African continent.

The Visionary Award is calling for submissions from practitioners who are currently conceptualising new bodies of work across the extended field of lens-based mediums. The winning applicant will receive a cash award to support a residency at the Javett Art Centre at the University of Pretoria. Entrants need to be 40 years or younger during the year of their submission, and should live and work on the African continent at the time of entry.
