In partnership with the Chocolonely Foundation, NOOR Foundation are organising an extensive workshop training programme in West Africa to develop, produce and amplify the local stories around the cocoa communities. The workshop takes place between March - September 2023, with a seven-day workshop in Divo, Ivory Coast. The programme is open to French speaking photographers of all ages, who are nationals of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, or Togo.

We Make Books invites art publishers from Africa to participate in a programme that looks at the questions and challenges around co-publishing between art book and magazine publishers in Africa. The ‘Co-publishing Art Books in Africa’ workshop, networking event, and mini book fair will take place in Yaoundé, Cameroon from 16-19 February 2023.

Academie voor Theater en Dans (AHK) in Amsterdam, Netherlands and Ecole des Sables in Toubab Dialaw, Senegal are currently seeking applications for Africa-based dancers to participate in a residency exchange. The residency will take place at Ecole des Sables, Toubab Dialaw from 25 February – 26 March 2023.

The pan–African program LEWO (Leadership and Empowerment for Women) is dedicated to the professionalisation and capacity building of women artists and cultural entrepreneurs in Africa. 16 female artists and cultural entrepreneurs from West Africa and Central Africa will be selected to take part in BOOT CAMP #3 scheduled in Ségou from March 2023.

The Access ART X Prize awards early-career artists from Africa and its Diaspora with opportunities to develop their practices. One artist will be selected from Nigeria for a residency at Gasworks in London from July to September 2023. Another artist from Africa / the Diaspora will be selected for a residency at Yinka Shonibare’s GAS Foundation in Lagos from September to November 2023. Both artists will exhibit at the ART X Lagos fair in November 2023.

Creative technologists based in Southern or Eastern Africa can apply to participate in this lab using extended reality (XR) technology like virtual reality or augmented reality to develop new narratives on World Heritage sites in Southern and Eastern Africa. The 3-day ideas development lab will take place in Cape Town, South Africa, from 6-8 December 2022.

The first Climate Story Lab ZA is an incubator aimed at shifting the narrative and amplifying communication around climate change in order to make positive impacts against the global crisis. Up to eight projects will be selected for CSL ZA, and up to two team members per project will be invited to a four-day lab near Cape Town from 22-26 January 2023.

This year, the African Union celebrates its 20th anniversary since the organisation’s establishment at the Durban Summit of July 2002. ACCES - Music In Africa Conference for Collaborations, Exchange and Showcases seek proposals from African DJs for presentations that give an informative, entertaining and innovative overview of a particular, current music genre. Two DJs will be selected to fill two available slots during the conference in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from 24-26 November 2022.

The EU-funded project Euro-Egyptian Cultural Programme (EECP) is launching a call for European artists to join a residency programme in Egypt working with Egyptian independent cultural actors. EUNIC will offer up to three artists a three-week stay in either February 2023 or March 2023.

The Music In Africa Foundation (MIAF), a non-profit organisation operating in the field of African music, has partnered with Goethe-Institut to implement the Music In Africa Sound Connects Fund. The MIAF seeks to appoint a Regional Coordinator for the fund. The successful candidate will coordinate all the aspects of the fund, and oversee its daily management, working from head office in Johannesburg (Rosebank), South Africa.
