NOOR Foundation: Educational Programme, ‘Amplifying Voices from the Ivory Coast Cocoa Communities’ (Ivory Coast / Online)

NOOR

In partnership with the Chocolonely Foundation, NOOR Foundation are organising an extensive workshop training programme in West Africa to develop, produce and amplify the local stories around the cocoa communities.

This initiative will bring together the talent of regional visual storytellers, the knowledge of community facilitators, NOOR mentoring expertise, and the underrepresented voices of the workers of the cocoa communities in Ivory Coast. By shining a light on these stories and creating a wide-reaching platform for local talent, the aim is to contribute to a shift in the power balance towards equality within the cocoa supply chain.

The workshop will be mentored by award-winning photojournalist Bénédicte Kurzen and community facilitator Hervé Mian. The workshop aims to elevate your visual storytelling skills and facilitate your journalistic, investigative and visual mastery over the photographic medium. In addition, you will have the chance to network with other like-minded visual storytellers and become part of NOOR’s international professional network.

The workshop has three phases, covering an online kick-off event in March 2023, a seven-day workshop in Divo, Ivory Coast in March/April 2023, and then an online mentorship programme with bi-weekly meetings from 30 April to 30 September 2023.

The application and the workshop are free of charge. Travel expenses, accommodation and a daily stipend for food are also included.

The programme is open to French speaking photographers of all ages, who are nationals of Benin, Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, The Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea-Bissau, Ivory Coast, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal, Sierra Leone, or Togo.
