From 1 December 2021, L’Art Rue and MitOst are looking for a full-time Assistant Coordinator who will be be based in Tunis, at the L’Art Rue office in Dar Bach Hamba, and work on the project ‘Thaqafa Daayer Maydoor / All-Around Culture’.

Dance Base Scotland and Ecole des Sables Senegal unite to create Source, an exchange project celebrating African Contemporary practice through Germaine Acogny’s Technique. Artists based in Scotland can apply for the eight-month programme, which includes a digital exchange from September 2021 - April 2022, as well as a 2-3 week in-person residency at Ecole des Sables in Senegal in May 2022.

The Bag Factory Artist Residency will enable an emerging visual artist based in Botswana, Namibia, Uganda, Zambia, or Zimbabwe to undertake a fully funded residency at the Bag Factory in Johannesburg from 1 September to 30 November 2021.

Le Fonds de mobilité «Culture au Sahel» soutient la mobilité à l’intérieur de la zone du G5 Sahel, et en direction de la Côte d’Ivoire et du Sénégal. «Culture au Sahel» est ouvert aux artistes et aux professionnels de la culture résidant dans l’un des 5 pays du G5 Sahel : Burkina-Faso, Mali, Mauritanie, Niger et Tchad. La période et la durée de la mobilité sont à la libre appréciation du candidat mais la mobilité doit être effectuée avant le 31 janvier 2022.

Huza Press and Goethe-Institut Kigali are collaborating to provide a four-week writers’ residency in Kigali (Rwanda) in September 2021. The theme is ‘Writing Gender’. The purpose is to support writers as they complete or make significant advances with a work-in-progress novel manuscript. The programme is open to writers from African countries (except Rwanda) and German-speaking countries.

(Re)activating Common Urban Imaginaries is a pluri-disciplinary nomadic residency programme exploring sound, memory and trans-Mediterranean resonances. There will be three week-long creative residencies: Athens, November 2021; Alexandria, January 2022; Marseille, March 2022. Applications are open to individuals engaged in the study, protection or production of collective urban memory who reside in EU and a number of neighbouring countries.

The Caravan Residency Programme is a year-long multi-city residency that invites artists, cultural practitioners, and activists to articulate and configure new modes of relating to and understanding urban, infrastructural, and social processes and formations. Residency activities take place from October 2021 – July 2022. Applications are open to emerging to mid-career artists in any discipline who reside in EU and a number of neighbouring countries.

Connect South Africa will grant a funded residency to one artist from Switzerland and one artist from Southern, East or West Africa, with residency activities split between CERN, the European Laboratory for Particle Physics in Geneva and the array of optical and radio astronomy observatories across rural and urban South Africa. Connect South Africa invites submissions from artists with a distinct interest in an interdisciplinary approach, and a keen engagement with scientific thinking and fundamental science.

“Résidanses 2021” is an incubation programme for choreographic projects aimed at providing support to emerging African choreographers as they develop their creative process. It allows artists and companies to take part in residencies to develop a new work or further develop a work in progress with the aid of a mentor. The call for applications is addressed to emerging contemporary and urban dance choreographers or companies based on the continent, wishing to develop a new creation or a stage of work in progress.

Textes en scènes est un concours d’auteurs d’œuvres théâtrales, ayant pour but de favoriser la création théâtrale contemporaine, de faire découvrir au public des textes d’auteurs (hommes et femmes) d’Afrique francophone et d’assurer à quatre auteurs un accompagnement sur une année, avec pour l’un des auteurs une résidence finale à la Chartreuse - Centre national des écritures de spectacle à Villeneuve-lès-Avignon. Une résidence collective est également prévue au Bénin.

Don Sen Folo a ouvert en 2020, un lieu de résidence artistique, le Don Sen Folo – LAB, sur deux hectares, dans le village de Bancoumana à 50 km de Bamako. Cet espace peut recevoir des artistes pour leur travail de recherche, d’expérimentation et de création. Les conditions principales de la résidence sont notamment de : Présenter un projet de création chorégraphique en espace public, Proposer un projet engagé dans une approche artistique contextuelle, avec ou pour la population locale, Être âgé.e de moins de 35 ans, Être ressortissant.e d’un pays d’Afrique et résider en Afrique.

Medinea (MEDiterranean INcubator of Emerging Artists) supports the professional integration of young Mediterranean musicians. It is now inviting applications for four training sessions in Lisbon (Portugal), Sidi Bou Said (Tunisia), Aix-en-Provence (France), and Nuoro (Italy) to explore intercultural and improvised music with the help of the jazzman and composer Fabrizio Cassol. Each session has its own dates and deadline.
