PARI!

Close-up photo of note which reads, 'How do we overcome conflict of interest between stakeholders, e.g. funding, systems, opportunities, priorities'?

What does it mean to be ‘international’? Models of touring and exporting are common in the cultural field, but what if we thought differently about ways to cross borders?

PARI! (Parcours d’Accompagnement et de Réflexion sur l’International) is On the Move’s flagship international mentoring programme. It supports artists and organisations to think on a deeper level about what it means to be ‘international’, while meeting the environmental, ethical and social concerns of international work. Participants range from established organisations looking to make a strategic shift, to new or independent players who have the potential to develop but lack access to information, resources and connections.

With individual and collective sessions spread over the course of one year, participants receive tailored support in areas from strategic development to communications.

The first pilot edition, initiated by the French Ministry of Culture, took place in 2018. It was then subsequently developed in collaboration with the Institut français. Four cohorts of companies / groups / ensembles and collectives in the music and performing arts sector have been supported since 2018. Three cohorts of visual art organisations have been supported as well since 2019.

While PARI! is our largest programme, we facilitate and/or contribute to similar schemes at a regional level in France (with La Collaborative) and in other countries as part of our overall work in professional development.
