SHIFT - Shared Initiatives for Training

SHIFT Culture logo - name next to three semi circles arranged into a design like a rotor blade.

Climate change, gender equality, and inclusion of minorities are key challenges for our rapidly changing world. Arts and culture have a recognised role in shaping societies and have the potential to significantly contribute to a better and more sustainable future for all. Providing training initiatives for cultural leaders, the ERASMUS+ funded project SHIFT saw a diverse group of individuals working together to create paths to navigate such global challenges.

On the Move’s role was to contribute resources and information to each of the topics – climate change and environmental sustainability under the lead of ELIA, and gender and power relations coordinated by IETM.

The networks and platforms’ partners produced online manuals and guidelines over a two-year period (2019-2021) on the following themes: Cultural Leadership, Climate Change, Inclusion, and Gender & Power-relations.

Beyond the project, On the Move committed to implementing the SHIFT eco-certification together with 15 other cultural networks. The aim of this process is to co-develop a bespoke eco-certification for cultural networks, taking into account their specific needs and working methods. On the Move also wishes to continue to spread information collected through the publication #MeToo in the Arts: From call-outs to structural change (see for instance Katie Kheriji-Watts’s video presentation in English (from 12:36) at the Conference Burning Issues - Performing Arts and Equity held in Berlin on 7-8 May 2022).
