Art Jameel launches a curatorial open call for exhibition proposals, to be developed for Hayy Arts’ first floor gallery at Hayy Jameel in Jeddah for May 2024. The call is open to curators and collectives (with a focus on early-career curators) working anywhere whose research and exhibition making engages with the following topics: Jeddah/ Hejaz histories; Red Sea ecologies; Red Sea histories of migration – the movement of people and ideas; connected geographies across the Red Sea (e.g. Egypt, Saudi, Yemen, Sudan, Eritrea, Djibouti, Palestine, Jordan).

The CCA-Mellon Multidisciplinary Research Programme seeks practitioners and researchers working across landscape architecture and allied practices to participate in a multi-day online seminar in November 2023. Some participants will be invited to continue with the research project with in-person meetings and independent research over 18 months.

The ECHO Academy in Bulgaria is looking for 10 fashion designers who will develop artworks and proposals for pilot projects. The Academy will be held between 5-26 October 2023 in a hybrid form. Applications are open to legal residents in the countries within the Creative Europe framework and non-EU countries of the Western Balkans. Applicants should be emerging creatives between 18 and 35 years old.

Using Tool Sheds as a point of departure, this year Nieuwe Instituut’s Call for Fellows invites applicants to conceptualise, design and test applied research tools, instruments, methods, formats and processes for generative world-building using material, theoretical, political, time-based or place-based sets of practices.  There is no age limit for applicants. Individuals and collectives from all places of residence are invited to apply.

Bernheim Arboretum & Research Forest’s new L+A+N+D (Landscape + Art + Nature + Design) initiative seeks proposals for immersive outdoor installations on a grand scale that will spark imaginations, conversations, and a deeper appreciation of the natural world.

‘Export development and market opportunities in the handcraft sector’ is a six-week online incubator initiative (August - early September 2023) which offers an innovative framework for export development and increasing market opportunities. Applicants must be between 18 and 35 years old and citizens / permanent residents of Transcultura Caribbean countries.

Now in its second year, Black Curatorial’s Fly Me Out Fund supports Black Curators / Visual Artists in Barbados, Jamaica and the UK by enabling them to experience a new curatorial project, exhibition, biennial, cultural event or research access, etc.

Art Exchange: Moving Image programme is a collaborative and cross-cultural curatorial professional development and exhibition programme for early to mid-career visual arts curators from Sub-Saharan Africa working with the moving image. The programme is open to early to mid-career visual arts curators based in Ethiopia, Kenya, Ghana, Nigeria, Rwanda, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Uganda and Zimbabwe.

This five-month residency programme at 500 Capp Street in San Francisco, CA will begin in autumn 2023 and end in spring 2024, with some flexibility. The focus of this year’s programme is to create work highlighting experimentation that expands the boundaries of genre, medium and material.

Gallery Siva in Zagreb, Croatia invites artists, curators and artist collectives to apply to its open call for 2024. Gallery Siva’s programme is designed to provide support to artists by giving them access to a contemporary art gallery venue and an unconventional Croatian and international cultural / subcultural exchange spot. The featured artists are free to exhibit in different formats.

The aim of the ‘Boundary-Crosser’ residency project is to provide an opportunity for artists to explore creative intersections and processes with technologists. Selected artists will be hosted by one of the 8 participating CYENS Centre of Excellence Labs and will generate artistic work, during and after their time of residency. Residencies run 2-4 months.

Application are now being accepted for Al Madinah art symposium ‘Madan’, which will be held in Madinah, from 3-10 August 2023, organised by the Madina Art Center. The open call’s objectives are to bring together over 30 artists in one location and to encourage artists’ creative experiences by showcasing works in a variety of mediums. Applications are welcome from artists who specialise in photography and multimedia, Arabic calligraphy, Islamic motifs, plastic arts, and contemporary art.
