Narva Art Residency will offer three artists or creative duos funded residency places to create sculptural artworks or urban installations in the public spaces of Narva. These three residencies last from 1 July until 29 August.

The cultural centre Malý Berlín and City of Trnava are looking for Slovak or foreign architects, urban planners, and researchers to undertake a residency from October – December 2023. Applicants will receive opportunities to work on a selected topic, get to know the local context, and propose a solution in direct collaboration with the main architect of the city of Trnava and his department.

The international lab ‘Urban Citizenship in Transition’ (15-21 September 2023) will bring together 18 young professionals from civic organisations and initiatives across Germany, Moldova and Georgia who are actively engaged in working with individuals with migrant or refugee backgrounds.

As part of the S+T+ARTS programme, the project ReSilence in collaboration with artists is developing technologies to shape in novel ways our urban environments and soundscapes, re-positioning the role of silence and that of sound. Artists and pairs of artists-SMEs from all over the world are welcome to submit their proposals.

Urban Festival UIT is calling for installations for the 2023 festival, themed ‘Urban Pause’. The central theme focuses on the wastelands and voids of Tartu. Projects will be realised as a temporary installation in public space. The approach to the installation is open to interpretation and can be cross-disciplinary; the installation will be exhibited during the festival week (16-19 August 2023).

Young creatives from Germany and Moldova are invited to apply for the audio storytelling lab ‘Common Futures’. The programme takes place both online and in-person from May - September 2023. Online, participants will receive mentoring and conduct group project work. During two offline exchanges in Berlin and Chișinău, participants will rethink existing structures and places, speculate about the futures of urban spaces and co-create site-specific audio projects.

Cities Ahead is launching an open call for placemaking projects for the creative (temporary) transformation of public space in Augsburg, in the overarching context of sustainable cultural urban development. Selected projects are to be implemented in the second half of 2023 (by November at the latest).

Veszprém-Balaton 2023 European Capital of Culture is calling for artists to reimagine several municipal spaces in prominent locations in the city. Works will be created/installed on-site between 1 May and 30 September 2023.

The DIALOG CITY Art for Public Residency Programme invites professional artists to develop ideas for urban interventions dealing with local or global topics that are of great significance for urban society and that are based on a participatory approach. This open call is for a residency in Turin and Mondoví running from 20 June - 24 July 2023. Artists of all disciplines and nationalities can apply, but they must reside in the European Union or in one of the accession countries.

The Asia Culture Center (ACC) in Gwangju, Korea is seeking participants for its 2023 ACC Residency, which will take place over approximately six months from May – October 2023, with a showcase in November 2023. The reorganised 2023 programme is being carried out in conjunction with the ACC Sound Art Lab, which in 2023 is launching the project ‘Futures of Listening’ to research the sounds of Asia and Asian cities.

As part of the S+T+ARTS programme, the project ReSilence in collaboration with artists is developing technologies to shape in novel ways our urban environments and soundscapes, re-positioning the role of silence and that of sound. To design the soundscape of future cities, ReSilence supports the development of art-driven technologies in the spirit of S+T+ARTS through the collaboration of artists, architects, urban designers, scientists, engineers and researchers. The project is putting forward four different research challenges (PUCs) where artists can develop their ideas:

Cities Ahead is launching an open call for international creatives to propose participatory actions for the transformation of public space in Logroño, integrating aspects of urban innovation and sustainable/ecological development. The selected proposals will be carried out in Logroño during Concéntrico 09 – International Architecture and Design Festival, which will take place from 27 April - 2 May 2023.
