In 2023, the Art Prospect Network Residency programme will support residencies for eighteen artists and curators from USA and the Art Prospect Network countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bulgaria, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Moldova, Russia, Tajikistan, Ukraine, and Uzbekistan) focusing on exchange and collaboration in the field of socially engaged art and/or public art.

The Moscow International Biennale for Young Art is calling for proposals for a curatorial project for an exhibition during August-September 2022 at MMOMA’s building situated at 25 Petrovka Street. Applications for participation are accepted from curators aged 18 to 35 years from anywhere in the world.

The AYARKUT AIR Art Residency programme, initiated in 2021 by the AyarKut Foundation in Yakutsk, invites artists and collective (max. 3 people) to residencies in the Sakha Republic. There are three strands which respond to different characteristics of the local environment: ‘Indigenous Knowledge’, ‘Soundscape of the Arctic’, and ‘In dialogue with Nature’. Duration is 1 or 2 months.

The Summer Sessions are short-term international art and technology residencies for emerging artists and designers. Artists and designers working with art and technology are eligible to apply if they are under the age of 35 and/or have graduated within the past five years, and live in a country where there is a Summer Sessions sponsoring partner (Netherlands, Taiwan, Spain, Austria, Russia, China, South Korea, Croatia and Belgium). Each Summer Sessions residency lasts approximately eight weeks and takes place between July and September.

Innopraktika & Russian Seasons School is an international education project aimed at acquainting foreign art students with Russia and promoting intercultural dialogue between representatives of different countries, artistic views, and aesthetic traditions. A Choreography session runs 1-25 July 2021 and a Music Session from 1-21 July 2021, both in St Petersburg, and open to professional artists in the relevant disciplines. The sessions are open to participants aged 21-35, except for part of the Choreography Session which is for ages 18-30.

The Artкommunalka residency invites international applications from contemporary visual artists and from writers working in Russian to apply for grants to realise creative projects in 2021. Successful applicants will be provided a residential workshop located in a building in the historic centre of Kolomna (Moscow), and the organisers welcome projects that relate to the local area.

When thinking of the future of travelling could land-based long distance train travel be the norm? With the aim of finding tools, mapping and testing options as well as solutions for travelling, HIAP (Helsinki International Artist Programme) are looking for participants for an east-bound trip from Finland going through Russia (and China) to Japan. The group will plan the trip starting from Helsinki together – deciding the amount of stops, activities and duration – but it is good to keep in mind that the travel will take at least one and a half months.

CYLAND Media Art Lab invites artists worldwide to participate in the 13th CYFEST International Media Art Festival in St. Petersburg, Russia. The festival will take place in the first quarter of 2021 with the theme ‘Cosmos and Chaos’.

A new initiative of ITMO University in Saint Petersburg, Art.ITMO.Residency aims to bring together talents from art and technology to foster interaction between scientific knowledge and artistic perception. Residencies last 1-2 months and will take place September - October 2020. Deadline: 15 April 2020.

Gamma_LAB XR is a laboratory dedicated to technologies used to create virtual, augmented, hybrid reality and immersive environments. The lab will take place 12-22 May 2020 in Saint Petersburg, but remote participation is also possible. A number of participants will then be supported to attend Gamma Festival in July 2020. The laboratory is designed for media artists, designers, architects, programmers, developers and researchers in the field of XR. Deadline: 1 May 2020.

Moscow’s Garage Museum of Contemporary Art has announced an open call for grants for international curators allowing them to visit the 2nd Garage Triennial of Russian Contemporary Art. Applications are accepted from participants of any age and citizenship who live and work outside of Russia. Candidates should have at least three-years of curatorial experience in the field of contemporary art. Each of the ten travel grants will cover travel expenses and a four-day stay in Moscow from 11-15 June 2020. Deadline: 5 March 2020.
