Culture Utopias is the title of a residency that aims to create a collaborative and courageous space of action in which artists, cultural managers, activists and citizens from Romania, Poland and Ukraine can reflect on the challenges Europe has faced in the last decade.

Performing Togetherness is a new type of laboratory-residency developed by Gabriela Tudor Foundation as a result of the crisis within the cultural sector following the pandemic period and the war in Ukraine. The laboratory-residency is open to interested mid-career participants with experience in collaborative practices from Austria, Germany, Poland, Romania and Ukraine.

Theatre in Palm, an international project funded by Creative Europe, is hosting a Hybrid Residency on 6–17 November 2023. During the 2-week residency you will work with 10 local artists and 20 international artists, both live and online. The residency will end with 4–12 co-produced, new theatre pieces that are shared online with the whole group of 120 artists, plus 12 mentors, and the rest of the online world. Applicants must be resident in EU countries.

The Take Care Residency Programme will run during 2023-2024 in Sofia, Bulgaria and is dedicated to theatre makers, dramaturgs/playwrights, and performers who are passionate about exploring innovative approaches to their field. Residencies will take place over 4 weeks, with flexible starting dates between September and December 2023.

ZIDART - Street ART Festival seeks proposals for mural paintings to be implemented at its next edition from 14 August - 5 September 2023. The theme is ‘Less is More’.

The project MODINA (Movement, Digital Intelligence and Interactive Audience) aims to expand the creative possibilities for contemporary dance performances, and augment the experience for the audience, using digital technology – with an emphasis on exploring artificial intelligence (AI) and audience interaction, on-site and online. The project seeks dance and technology duos for residencies in performance centres in Romania, Slovenia, Estonia, Germany and Hungary. Five 8-week residencies will take place between November 2023 and April 2024.

Basca Theater are looking for theatre, circus, dance or any other kinds of performance, in any language, for ‘in : v z b l festival’ 2023. Selected artistic interventions can take place between 1 September – 15 November 2023.

Basca Theater invite 3 international and/or Romanian artists to spend two weeks in Timisoara, and to create cultural interventions in the city, with Basca Theater’s team facilitating access to various invisible communities. The project ETERIA – Enhance Transborder Experiences, Rebuild Interactions of Artists is calling for emerging and professional artists from Europe to participate in three hybrid online and in-person residencies involving masterclasses, activities, and rehearsals towards the realisation of a multilingual site-specific performance. Residencies will be held in 2023 and 2024 online and in Greece, Romania and Italy.

The Romanian Cultural Institute (RCI) announces the launch of the new CANTEMIR Programme, a funding programme for cultural projects abroad. Grants are available in the visual arts and performing arts; projects must be implemented in the interval 1 June 2023 - 15 October 2023.

New Europe College – Institute for Advanced Study in Bucharest is launching a new fellowship programme for writers and translators from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bulgaria, Georgia, Moldova, Romania, Russia, Turkey, Ukraine. Applicants from the Baltics or the Western Balkans may be considered under special circumstances. The fellowship includes a residency of 2-5 months; exact dates agreed with NEC.
