Discover more about Art Moves Africa’s new publication, Retracing Roots and Tracing New Routes: Mobility and Touring in North Africa. This is the latest publication in its series of regional studies on arts mobility in Africa.

The new study is available for online viewing in e-book format or for download in PDF format.

Based on interviews with 90 artists and cultural practitioners across the region, the study provides:

  • A mapping of spaces and organisations in North Africa that currently support artists’ and cultural actors’ mobility;
  • an analysis of the obstacles inhibiting mobility to/from/within North Africa;
  • country-specific information;
  • and recommendations geared at supporting and strengthening mobility to/from/within the region.

The study was completed by researcher Lara Bourdin (Research coordinator for AMA) between December 2018 and April 2019, thanks to the generous support of the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
