The European Alliance of Academies is launching a call for projects on the topic of biopolitics, exploring the relation between governments and their citizens, especially in the context of the (post)pandemic crisis. This call for projects is directed at artists and students from all artistic disciplines who are represented by the institutions and academies of the European Alliance of Academies.

The conference ‘Dysfunctionalities in Contemporary Art | in Times of Conflict’ will take place 13 March 2021 at A.G. Leventis Gallery in Cyprus, and is inviting applications from potential speakers. The event will address Art and Artist’s rights under the prism and conditions of political tension, investigating the relationship between the artist and the political strategy of a state. The conference is planned to take place physically, but will move online if necessary.

REGIOPARL (the Regional Parliaments Lab) is looking to commission an artwork that deals with the topics of Europe, Europe of the regions, future of Europe, and/or the interplay of regional and European identities. The piece, and the artist(s), will accompany the project as it visits 4-6 locations during 2020. Deadline: 15 March 2020.

Vera List Center Fellowships support individuals whose work advances the discourse on art and politics. For 2020-2022, three non-residential, two-year fellowships will be awarded to support scholarly and creative work that critically engages with the Center’s 2020-2022 biennial focus theme ‘As for Protocols’. Journalists, scholars, activists, visual and performing artists, critics, public intellectuals, curators, and cultural practitioners from around the world are invited to apply. Deadline: 15 March 2020.

Radar Sofia, an artist-run residency programme, and Drama Pact, a contemporary dramaturgy platform, are looking to support the beginning of a new artistic project. One playwright / dramaturg / theatre, dance or performance maker will be invited to Sofia to develop the beginning of a piece reflecting critically on a topic related to the 30-year anniversary of the Fall of the Berlin Wall, the collapse of communism, and the neoliberal consensus that followed across unified Europe and beyond.
