From 31 July – 13 August 2023 Materia in Łódź, and from 17-30 August 2023, STUDIO2 of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in Berlin will each be hosting one artistic research residency. The residencies are aimed at individual artists or groups of up to two artists from the field of dance, theatre and performance. Applicants should be based in Germany or Poland.

The project ‘RENMUS - Renewable Music - V4 Composers for Sustainability’ invites composers from the Visegrad Group countries to apply for commissions to create new work that will be performed at four different concerts (in Warsaw, Prague, Bratislava, and Budapest). Selected composers will also join a programme of workshops and masterclasses from June – September 2024.

The International Solo Dance Contest at Gdansk Dance Festival is open to dancers of contemporary dance who have a documented artistic activity and/or are professional dancers with a diploma in dance studies. Participation in the contest is permitted for solos which either premiered between 1 January 2022 and 13 May 2023 or have been prepared especially for the Contest.

Taking place between 1-8 October 2023 in Kraków, Poland, the theme for the next edition of Unsound Festival is DADA. The festival is calling for works for the music and performance programme ‘In(ter)ventions’ as well as for its discourse programme.

Intl Jazz Platform is an artistic and professional platform for improvised music artists. 50 young artists from Europe will be selected for 5 days of workshops in Lodz, Poland from 23-27 July 2023.

The British Council has opened applications for scoping grants in preparation for a proposed UK/Poland season in 2025. In order to start developing potential activity, they are offering grants of £2500 to start conversations and establish partnerships.

The partners of the project Antigone’s Pride - Performing Society are calling for emerging and professional actresses and actors, especially with a migrant background, living in Italy, Poland, Spain and other EU countries, to participate in the co-creation of the performance ‘Antigone’s Cantica’. This will involve three eco arts residences in national parks in Spain (second half of April 2023), Poland (first half of June 2023) and Italy (first half of July 2023).

FestivALT is a Jewish-led multidisciplinary cultural organisation that uses contemporary art, performance and activism to engage the complexities of Jewish history, memory, identity, and culture in contemporary Poland. The festival is inviting applications from artists from Poland and around the world in the fields of visual art, music, performance, and activist intervention that engage with contemporary Jewish Poland. The next edition takes place in Kraków from 23 June - 2 July 2023.

Enoa – the European Network of Opera Academies is organising an immersive residency programme offering support, mentorship and mobility for artists without significant opera experience. There are residencies available with eleven hosting institutions in various European countries. The programme runs February 2023 - spring 2024. Applicants should be mid-career artists based in Europe who are highly interested in the development of opera creation / interdisciplinary musical and artistic forms but have no significant opera experience.

ETC - European Theatre Convention are looking for emerging theatre artists (particularly stage directors and dramaturgs) to join them in the sixth edition of the ETC Artist Residency Programme, offering placements of 4 to 8 weeks at ETC Member Theatres. Various residencies will take place throughout the first half of 2023.

European artists, or collectives can apply to the EMAP residency programme with a project proposal for a residency of two months within June 2022 to January 2023. The artists will be collaborating with an artist of their choice or an artist local to the platform’s host institutions.

The City Culture Institute is seeking translators from Poland, authors from Belarus and Ukraine, and cultural researchers (working on a project related to Maria Janion) for a literary residency programme based in Gdańsk. The residency will support four persons with a four-week stay in the city during September - December 2022.
