KONNECT ASEAN will support two artists (one from Southeast Asia and one from the Republic of Korea) to take part in a collaborative residency in Jakarta, Indonesia.
The residency programme will be managed by a Jakarta-based arts organisation in June 2023. This programme aims to provide opportunities for the ASEAN-Korea artists community by providing studio space, exhibition space, public programmes, and other promotional activities for artists while they work in Jakarta.
Under this programme, one artist will be chosen to represent ASEAN and another to represent the Republic of Korea. These two artists are expected to produce one collaborative artwork over a one-month period to be donated to the permanent ASEAN Collection. This programme is designed to explore ASEAN-Korea identities and deepen mutual understanding across diverse global cultures. Artists are expected to create works in an open studio format and participate in activities and events as requested.
During the residency programme, ASEAN will provide the following support:
- 1-month accommodation.
- Return airfare and travel costs.
- Artwork production costs (up to USD 3000).
- 1-month stipend.
- Studio space.
- Presentation of artwork at the ASEAN Gallery.
