Karosta Festival: Call for Artists to Make Artworks in Former Naval Base (Latvia)

For more than a hundred years Karosta was a naval base closed to the public. Now, decades after the military has left, Karosta (located in Liepaja, Latvia) is having a second life.

Industry, nature, tourism and local residents must co-exist. Here you can find unique architecture and absurd structures on every corner.

Karosta will never be fully explored or fully understood and yet Karosta festival are here to try. To enrich the environment of this part of the town, artworks must be as brave and unique as Karosta itself.

The festival seeks artistic creation processes, exhibitions, concerts, performances and workshops. New artwork will be created during the festival week in Karosta (5-11 June 2023) and presented during three public events 9, 10 and 11 June.

The festival offers:

  • Accommodation.
  • Catering.
  • Local transportation expenses.
  • Expenses for art supplies according to an agreed amount.
  • Travel expenses up to 200 euro.
