Based in Santa Maria da Feira, Portugal, Imaginarius is an annual festival of outdoor arts. For the 2021 edition, the festival is adapting to a new model and embracing digital work alongside other forms of programming.
The festival has a number of open calls, of which several are open to artists from anywhere in the world:
-
Mais Imaginarius: an open competition seeking projects that can be presented via digital media and platforms. Selected projects will be performed live and streamed during the festival, 27-30 May 2021. A stipend of €1300 will be paid to each participant.
-
Arte Urbana: As part of the celebrations for the 100 year anniversary of the Feira Fire Department, Imaginarius will commission an artist or collective to produce a special mural painting on the rear wall of the building. The work itself will take place 1-30 April 2021. The selected proposal will receive €2000 and the municipality will cover expenses for travel, accommodation and meals, for the artist/collective.
-
Arte Digitais: This call challenges all artists and creatives to develop projects with digital content, which may be informative, educational, artistic-performative or even related to gaming, as long as they are connected with the arts, creativity and public space. Project work should take place 1 February – 20 April 2021, ready to submit final work on 30 April 2021. Each selected project will receive 2000€.
