S+T+ARTS AIR is launching a new S+T+ARTS residencies programme focused on two main themes: Resilient Interspecies Urban Ecosystems and Human AI Ecosystems. Applicants must be citizens or permanent residents in Member States of the European Union and its Overseas Countries and Territories (OCT) or Associated Countries to Horizon Europe.

This summer Torhaus (a former gatekeepers house for Tempelhof Airport Building in Berlin) is getting renovated and three groups/collectives/individuals will be invited to explore this gate turning into a house. Participants from all disciplines will have the possibility to work in Torhaus for two weeks.

The international lab ‘Urban Citizenship in Transition’ (15-21 September 2023) will bring together 18 young professionals from civic organisations and initiatives across Germany, Moldova and Georgia who are actively engaged in working with individuals with migrant or refugee backgrounds.

The ‘Sinti and Roma Art in Context’ residency programme offers local, national, or international Sinti and Roma artists a two-month residency from 15 September - 15th November 2023. Applicants should have a background in one of the following areas: photography, literature, illustration and comics, or theatre and movie screenwriting and music (composition and interpretation).

K3 | Tanzplan Hamburg provides three eight-month residencies per season to choreographers, who are currently at the beginning of their career and have produced some choreographic work of their own. The next residency will begin August 2024 and run until April 2025. Over the course of the residency the three choreographers will each develop a full-length piece that is presented at the end of the residency on three evenings.

Goethe-Institut Indonesia, Malaysia, the Philippines together with SAVVY Contemporary, TanzFaktur, and Leipzig International Art Programme are looking for two-month residency applications in visual art and performing art.

The organisation SchUM is leading the process to nominate the Jewish communities of Speyer, Worms and Mainz as a UNESCO World Heritage site. In connection with this, they are offering up to three project fellowships for the realisation of an artistic project that addresses the history of the ShUM communities and their religious, cultural and architectural legacy. The residency will last for 4 to 6 weeks and is scheduled between October 2021 and February 2022 (start date in 2021).

With ‘Sonic Experiments’, the ZKM | Hertz-Lab awards scholarships for composers with a focus area in the field of electronic music and sound art as part of its artist-in-residency programme. The duration of the residency for realising the production at ZKM | Karlsruhe should be 4 weeks. Possible dates for the residencies are between mid-September and the presentation at the end of October 2023.

University of Göttingen are calling for Asian and multicultural artists to showcase their talents and delve into the captivating realm where art and technology converge. Performances of 20-30 minutes are sought for indoor or outdoor presentation in Göttingen, or presentation in virtual space.

European artists, or collectives can apply to the EMAP residency programme with a project proposal for a residency of two months in 2024. The artists will be collaborating with an artist of their choice or an artist local to the platform’s host institutions.

From 31 July – 13 August 2023 Materia in Łódź, and from 17-30 August 2023, STUDIO2 of the International Theatre Institute (ITI) in Berlin will each be hosting one artistic research residency. The residencies are aimed at individual artists or groups of up to two artists from the field of dance, theatre and performance. Applicants should be based in Germany or Poland.

7th Extinction is an international artistic residency project focused on the most pressing issues of evolution, extinction and environmental crisis. This open call is for musicians, music producers, and visual artists (VJs, video producers, visual creatives) between 18-35 years old who are resident or domiciled in Portugal or Germany. Selected applicants will join an educational programme (in Italy, Portugal and Germany) September - December 2023, and an artistic residency spread over a 2-week period at 3 different points in 2024.
