The JRC makers-in-residence programme is an annual, short-term research-focused residence hosted by the JRC Makerspace, in the Joint Research Centre’s Ispra site, in Italy. The third edition of the programme is planned for the first quarter of 2024. The selected makers are invited to a maximum 10-days funded residency.

Artists across creative disciplines, countries, and at any stage of their career are invited to submit an application to participate in the Resonances IV Summer School at the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre in Ispra, Italy from 20-24 July 2022. As a melting pot of perspectives and disciplines, the Summer School will be a fertile ground for fermenting ideas on the theme of ‘NaturArchy: Towards a Natural Contract’.

The programme is targeted at artists producing work in the rich lands between art and science, whose work engages diverse audiences, and who show strong interest in scientific inquiry.

The European Commission is aiming to introduce a digital visa to replace the paper visa sticker currently used, and to enable those planning to travel to the EU to submit their visa application online. The Commission has opened a consultation to obtain the views of citizens and stakeholders on the envisaged initiative, with feedback given through a questionnaire.

To implement the 2020 Preparatory action “Music Moves Europe: Boosting European music diversity and talent” (with a budget of €2.5 million) this call for proposals addresses the need to support the green, digital, just and resilient recovery and post-Covid-19-crisis development of the European music ecosystem to help it become more sustainable.

The European Commission has opened a new call for proposals, ‘Art and the Digital: Unleashing Creativity for European Water Management’. It aims to unite the digital with the arts in order to promote a European policy vision on the future of water and to help raise societal awareness on water use. Artistic residencies in companies will help induce a change of mind-set and novel ideas regarding the preservation of water resources. Consortia will propose concrete ideas at the nexus of art, digital and water that will lead to a sustainable set of actions and a burgeoning community.

The European Commission has launched a call for proposals that link existing and planned initiatives across Europe to develop synergies between the arts and digital technologies, boost uptake of the digital by local business, facilitate and enable sustainable urban development and social cohesion, and contribute to a humane dimension of technology.

The European Commission has launched a new call for proposals for a pilot project focusing on safeguarding and promoting culture in ‘the Outermost regions and the Overseas Countries and Territories’, which include Guadeloupe, French Guiana, Martinique, Mayotte, Reunion Island and Saint-Martin (France), the Azores and Madeira (Portugal) and the Canary Islands (Spain).

Europe and the Arab world share a complex, multi-faceted relationship going back centuries if not millennia. However, in particular since the beginning of the XXI century, the Euro-Arab relation has been tainted by increasing mistrust and suspicion. Recent political developments, from the wars in Syria or Libya and their repercussions on European soil to the wave of terrorist attacks perpetrated in the name of Islam, have obscured the richness of this cross-fertilisation and helped entrench a sense of otherness.
