Consortia are invited to propose concrete ideas at the nexus of art, digital, and water on how an alliance of digital experts, artists and stakeholders can contribute to sustainable water management. A major task within this commission will be to use STARTS residencies to facilitate collaboration between artists and engineers and stakeholders concerned with water. An eligible consortium must have at least six partners from at least four different member States.

The new edition of the Culture of Solidarity Fund welcomes European transnational collaborative initiatives that address the theme of just transition and environmental sustainability from a specific cultural angle. The call is open to organisations based in Europe and actively engaged in the cultural, creative, or allied sectors.

The Inspiration Forum LAB is an interdisciplinary research programme designed to provide a space where artists and scientists can meet and work together on creating research-based multimedia art projects. The 2023/24 LAB will take place in phases from October 2023 – September 2024. The programme is open to applicants from EU Member States.

Theatre in Palm, an international project funded by Creative Europe, is hosting a Hybrid Residency on 6–17 November 2023. During the 2-week residency you will work with 10 local artists and 20 international artists, both live and online. The residency will end with 4–12 co-produced, new theatre pieces that are shared online with the whole group of 120 artists, plus 12 mentors, and the rest of the online world. Applicants must be resident in EU countries.

BITE of Art 2.0 initiative, run by the consortium of cultural operators from Spain, Slovenia, Belgium, and Serbia, is calling for young emerging artists or groups (max. 3 people) to engage in shaping a future for the European continent and addressing environmental and climate change issues through socially engaging contemporary visual art performances. Selected works will be performed within the festival ‘A Future of Europe: Code GREEN’ in Ljubljana from 9-13 October 2023.

The next edition of the Festival of the New European Bauhaus will take place during April 2024 in Brussels, Belgium. Artists across creative disciplines, countries and at any stage of their career are invited to submit an application to participate in this event.

SPROUT is a residency programme for artists and cultural practitioners who work at the intersection of art and ecology and are based in a Nordic or a Baltic country (except Estonia). From September 2023 to June 2024, MASSIA will host 6 individual practitioners and 2 collectives for residencies ranging from 1-2 months.

LINA, the European architecture platform, is looking for innovative projects and practices that address sustainable and environmental challenges in architecture, with the ambition of eventual implementation. Authors of selected projects, LINA fellows, will present their work at the LINA conference in Copenhagen on 9-10 October 2023, and have opportunities to collaborate with LINA members from November 2023 - October 2024. Applicants must be from countries participating in the Creative Europe Programme.

7th Extinction is an international artistic residency project focused on the most pressing issues of evolution, extinction and environmental crisis. This open call is for musicians, music producers, and visual artists (VJs, video producers, visual creatives) between 18-35 years old who are resident or domiciled in Portugal or Germany. Selected applicants will join an educational programme (in Italy, Portugal and Germany) September - December 2023, and an artistic residency spread over a 2-week period at 3 different points in 2024.

The artist-in-residency programme Hydromedia: Seeing With Water proposes to sidestep conventional visual approaches to global warming. Artists and experimental photographers are invited to submit a proposal to develop innovative and hands-on tools during a one-month residency in October 2023 at the Utrecht University of the Arts (HKU) and in their own studio in the months thereafter. Applicants must be active visual artists currently living and working in Europe and/or possess the nationality of one of the countries in the European Union.

AUGE NEXT Fellowship Programmes are designed to support young European artists working in various fields of digital media art: immersive art (XR/AR/VR), data visualisation and sonification, AI/ML, and others. A fellowship consists of a 6-month Prototyping & Production period (1 September 2023 – 28 February 2024) including an Onsite Residency (up to 2 weeks long) taking place in one of the hosting countries.

Guandu Nature Park is calling for three artists with a focus on the human-nature relationship to participate in the 2023 Guandu International Nature Art Festival, themed ‘Nature, a Gift - Connection, Giving, and Exchange’. Selected artists will use natural or environmentally friendly materials to create artworks on-site that can convey environmental messages and raise awareness. The residency period will run from 9 August 2023 – 11 September 2023, with artworks exhibited from 10 September – 31 December 2023.
