The 8th edition of Arab Arts Focus will take place this year as part of D-CAF Festival in Cairo from 2-5 November 2023. This is an open call for Arab artists to submit their latest theatre, dance, or multidisciplinary performing arts work, with a chance to be selected to be part of this year’s showcase.

The seventh edition of Contemporary Dance Night will take place in the last quarter of 2023, in Cairo and Alexandria, Egypt between late November and early December 2023. Choreographers from Egypt and partnered countries can apply with new creations for a two-month residency where they will work with Egyptian dancers/artists. The call is open to young and mid-career contemporary dancers and choreographers who are a citizen or resident in Egypt, the United Kingdom, France, Switzerland, Germany, America, and the Arabic region.

The Summer Sessions are short-term international art and technology residencies for emerging artists and designers. Each Summer Sessions residency lasts approximately eight weeks and takes place between July and September. This year the programme is open to artists under the age of 35 and/or graduated within the past five years living in Netherlands, Croatia, Italy, Norway, Spain or Egypt.

Common Stories are looking for 8 theatre directors, playwrights, choreographers and performance makers to take part in Common LAB 2023, an itinerant 8-week laboratory in France, Sweden, Egypt and Portugal from September - November 2023. Applicants should be performing arts artists living and working in Europe, with a good command of English.

The EU-funded project Euro-Egyptian Cultural Programme (EECP) is launching a call for European artists to join a residency programme in Egypt working with Egyptian independent cultural actors. EUNIC will offer up to three artists a three-week stay in either February 2023 or March 2023.

Down the Wire Live is a six-month collaborative project between B’sarya (Egypt) and Cryptic (UK). Both organisations will support artists, enabling them to participate in a collaborative research and development project resulting in a live performance/event in both Glasgow and Alexandria. 16 artists will participate in an exchange on 6 July 2022, with 2 selected for a final exchange to take place between October 2022 – early April 2023.

The Goethe-Institut is launching a project to support choreographic creations in the Arabic speaking countries. It proposes to select ten artists from and based in the Arabic speaking countries. Each artist will be creating a choreographic project centred on notions of autonomy and body politics. The Goethe-Institut provides financial support for the productions and accompanies artists from conception to implementation.

(Re)activating Common Urban Imaginaries is a pluri-disciplinary nomadic residency programme exploring sound, memory and trans-Mediterranean resonances. There will be three week-long creative residencies: Athens, November 2021; Alexandria, January 2022; Marseille, March 2022. Applications are open to individuals engaged in the study, protection or production of collective urban memory who reside in EU and a number of neighbouring countries.

The Caravan Residency Programme is a year-long multi-city residency that invites artists, cultural practitioners, and activists to articulate and configure new modes of relating to and understanding urban, infrastructural, and social processes and formations. Residency activities take place from October 2021 – July 2022. Applications are open to emerging to mid-career artists in any discipline who reside in EU and a number of neighbouring countries.

The Anna Lindh Foundation is seeking to appoint a Communication Officer as a member of its team. The communication officer will support enhancing the Foundations’ media profile in publications and its presence on social media, handle news to the Foundation’s stakeholders, manage the Foundation’s website, support in developing communication and media strategies through different information, communication, visibility activities and tools, such as publications, website, social media, press relations, multimedia, etc. to communicate impact.

The Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia employs around 110 staff members in Switzerland and various regions around the world dedicated to promoting Swiss arts and culture. The Foundation runs a regional liaison office in Cairo, which is mandated to support projects in the Arab world, and is currently looking for a Head of Pro Helvetia Cairo / Arab World to start 1st of July 2021 or by arrangement.
