Down the Wire Live is a six-month collaborative project between B’sarya (Egypt) and Cryptic (UK). Both organisations will support artists, enabling them to participate in a collaborative research and development project resulting in a live performance/event in both Glasgow and Alexandria. 16 artists will participate in an exchange on 6 July 2022, with 2 selected for a final exchange to take place between October 2022 – early April 2023.

Spektrum, the flagship project of the City of Rumelange within the framework of Esch2022, European Capital of Culture, is a multidisciplinary project conceptualised by The Impact Lab. Spektrum will be implemented in a sustainable manner on the future Spektrum site, whose architecture is provided by the 2001 agency with scenography by Njoy.

The Summer Sessions are short-term international art and technology residencies for emerging artists and designers. Artists and designers working with art and technology are eligible to apply if they are under the age of 35 and/or have graduated within the past five years, and live in a country where there is a Summer Sessions sponsoring partner (Netherlands, Italy, Germany, Portugal, Croatia). Each Summer Sessions residency lasts approximately eight weeks and takes place between July and September.

The British Council and the School of Digital Arts (SODA) at Manchester Metropolitan University are offering a residency for African Artists looking to gain further experience in digital arts. The residency will initially take place online, with two participants selected to be part of an in-situ residency in September and October 2022.

European artists, or collectives can apply to the EMAP residency programme with a project proposal for a residency of two months within June 2022 to January 2023. The artists will be collaborating with an artist of their choice or an artist local to the platform’s host institutions.

That Other Place is a paid commission opportunity for a queer identifying artist or arts collective from eligible countries to create a major new extended reality artwork. This will be shared with online and face-to face audiences at b-side festival which takes place from 8-11 September 2022 on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, UK.

The School of Arts at the Universidade Católica Portuguesa is accepting applications for an artistic residency funded by the InResidence programme, promoted by the Porto Municipality. The selected artist will work for a period of three months between September and December 2022. The residency is open to artists working in: Cinema, Sound, Photography, New Media Art, Heritage and Conservation and Restoration.

The Nordic Lights project will support six new audiovisual performances created by 12 artists and presented at 3 festivals. The performances will be formed at mini-residencies in Norway, Finland and Sweden hosted by the festivals, where selected artists will collaborate across national borders. The ideal length of the residency is 7-14 days, and will take place in May–August 2022.

Open Futures 2022 invites collaborative submissions, consisting of one dance artist and one digital media artist, who are exploring the potential of interdisciplinary exchange within practices that consider stage, gallery, installation and outdoor settings. Three pairs of artists will be selected for this two-week mentored and technically supported residency in Limerick, Ireland.

The netart and digital culture initiative ‘mur.at’ in Graz, Austria is inviting applications for several virtual and one on-site artist in residence. This year the programme focuses on digital artists working with Interactive Digital Narratives, Online performance and Interactive Fiction. Residencies start in May 2022.

Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen invites visual and media artists, art critics, theorists, and curators to apply for a fellowship in 2022–2023 (3 October 2022 – 17 June 2023). Künstlerhaus Büchsenhausen is a postgraduate centre for production, research and exchange in the fields of visual arts and art theory.

Enter, Het Nieuwe Instituut’s new video conferencing platform, is seeking its second artist in residence to create an artwork as a separate ‘room’ in Enter. The residency runs 1-22 February 2022 and the work will be premiered at an online event on 24 February 2022.
