The Indonesian Arts and Culture Scholarship (IACS) programme lasts for three months, running 2 May – 15 August 2020. During the programme, awardees will be divided into six groups placed at different art centres located in six provinces: Bali, West Sumatra, East Kalimantan, East Java, South Sulawesi, and Yogyakarta. Candidates should be between the ages of 21 to 27 years old. Deadline: 14 February 2020.

The Center for Contemporary Art Kitakyushu, a world centre for study and research in contemporary art based in southwest Japan, operates a Fellowship Programme for young artists and researchers (up to the age of 40) working in art, curatorial work, design or architecture. The Fellowship Programme for 2020/21 runs from September 2020 to the end of March 2021. Deadline (extended): 6 April 2020.

A key project of Taipei Performing Arts Center, ADAM (Asia Discovers Asia Meeting for Contemporary Performance) works to build a network and platform for cross-culture cooperation and interdisciplinary work. The 2020 Artist Lab, open to artists of all disciplines and nationalities, will take place 19 July - 17 August 2020. The title is ‘On Site: Rehearsing Concurrence and Its (Im)Possibilities’, with artists invited to rethink site as ‘a method to create, as a situation to rehearse, and as a concurrent embodiment to inhabit among others’. The Arts & Disability Forum (ADF) 2020 is a professional forum that will be held in Singapore on 19 & 20 March 2020. The organisers are looking to support 10 participants from Asian countries with travel grants to attend the event. Applicants should have prior experience working with the disabled community using the arts, demonstrating a strong interest in arts-based projects aimed at creating social impact. L’ambassade de France en Chine, la délégation Wallonie-Bruxelles en Chine et les bureaux du Québec en Chine co-organisent avec l’Académie centrale des arts dramatiques de Pékin une résidence de jeunes talents autour de l’art des marionnettes dans le cadre du 25ème Mois de la francophonie en Chine. Les organisateurs pour la partie française sont à la recherche de deux étudiants ou jeunes professionnels du domaine des arts des marionnettes entre 18 et 30 ans. Date limite : 31 janvier 2020.

Each year the Everyday Forms of Resistance programme offers residencies for six visual artists, using the medium of cultural exchange to reflect on the role of artistic practice and mobility in the specific circumstances of Ramallah and Palestine. Artists from Belgium, Finland, and Poland can apply for a three-month residency in Ramallah (June - August 2020). Palestinian artists can apply for three-month residencies in Warsaw (June - August 2020), Antwerp (July - September 2020) or Helsinki (September - November 2020). Deadline: 31 January 2020.

Art Residency | Albalad is a new residency programme in the vibrant, historical district of Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Both research and production residencies are available, with residents invited to draw inspiration from a city with a deeply rooted, yet little explored, history. Residencies run from 11 May – 31 December 2020 in a series of six-week cycles. Applications are open to Saudi-based and international artists, curators, art writers, historians and critics. Alserkal Arts Foundation’s Research Grants are designed to support radical, innovative, and contemporary research that challenges traditional modes of practice in a variety of fields. The grants place an emphasis on interdisciplinary proposals, comparative studies, and societal discourses that link the arts, humanities, and social sciences in the context of Middle East, Africa and South Asia (MEASA). The Foundation itself is located in Dubai.
