PEN America, a non-profit organisation working at the intersection of literature and human rights, is seeking to fill two senior manager positions:
- Senior Manager, Protection Programs to drive forward their work protecting artists at risk around the world. The role will develop a new emergency grant-making initiative through the Artists at Risk Connection (ARC) programme and expand PEN America’s protection programmes for individuals in peril because of their creative expression. The ideal candidate will have the vision, expertise, and programme management skills to shape ARC’s protection efforts, collaborating with the ARC team and the PEN/Barbey Freedom to Write Center. The role requires experience working with individuals at risk or otherwise vulnerable communities, and a demonstrated commitment to the arts and human rights internationally.
- Senior Manager, International Programs to strengthen and lead their work to fortify and expand the Artist at Risk Connection (ARC)’s international programmes. The role will oversee ARC’s regional hubs and expand PEN America’s international reach in order to grow the network of organisations and individuals providing assistance to at-risk artists. The ideal candidate will have the vision, expertise, and programme management skills to shape ARC’s international programmes and manage ARC’s regional representatives, while also collaborating with the ARC team and the PEN/Barbey Freedom to Write Center. The role requires strong project management skills, and a demonstrated commitment to the arts and human rights internationally.
Both are new full-time positions expected to be based at PEN America’s New York office. PEN America offers competitive compensation and benefits, commensurate with experience.
